A friend recently shared this great article on class inequality in America. It discusses the modern "success" mentality of raising and educating kids–pushing them into extracurriculars, "challenging" classes, service projects, test prep, etc.–and how the top tiers of this system aren't serving their children or the rest of the country very well at all. Rather, they are "creating an elite that is isolated from the society that it's supposed to lead."
I highly recommend this insightful look into top-tier education and the mentality that surrounds it.
